Many of the techniques I cover in this chapter are not specific to Photoshop, but they can be applied to almost any raster image editor, such as the GIMP. ## Understanding the Layers Panel As with most software programs, Photoshop has layers. Layers are where you place and manipulate the content of your image. You can change the appearance of one layer by adding text or a picture or by altering other aspects of the layer. The Layers panel (Figure 1-1) enables you to change the appearance of a single layer or the overall look of the image. FIGURE 1-1: You can access the Layers panel by opening the Panel menu and clicking Layers. Layers are quite powerful because you can create and add layers to an image as many times as you want. In many cases, you create a layer to show the elements of an image — an object, a character, a background, and so on — before you add the background to the canvas. Thus, you need to separate the layers so you can place the background on top of the foreground. One of the more common tasks in Photoshop is to add layers to a file. Layers can be further subdivided into `Normal` and `Clone` layers, which enable you to create multiple layers. ## Adding Layers to an Image Photoshop has five types of layers: `Normal`, `Clone`, `Mask`, `Composite`, and `Place`. (I cover all the ins and outs of layers later in this chapter.) Each type of layer adds a different type of layer to an image. (Some Layer types are covered in other chapters, and the remaining types aren’t covered in this book.) In Figure 1-2, notice the first layer, `Front`, which is a regular layer. That layer contains some text and a couple of graphics. After that is a layer named `Backdrop`, which is a `Clone` layer. FIGURE 1-2: Three layers in a file.

Q: Docker container not starting at boot I am using a Debian base image and it is a fresh installation of an application. Before the app was installed I ran docker-compose up -d and it worked fine. All I did was remove the service from Docker Compose and remove the entry in Dockerfile. When I start the container manually everything works fine but when I reboot the server the container fails to start. I can ssh into the container without issues so it can see the network just not start and it shows that it is not running. I can’t find anything about this in the logs, something I am missing? A: This seems to be a known bug with Debian and some raspbian images. Check the following bug report To fix the problem you have to edit the kernel image with the following command (it is for a general raspbian image): dd if=/usr/share/debian-archive-keyring/dists/buster-keyring/debian-archive/main/debian-installer/images/archive.key.asc of=/etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/debian.archive.gpg bs=512 count=1 conv=noerror, noerror skip=1 2>/dev/null | sudo apt-key –keyring=/usr/share/debian-archive-keyring/dists/buster-keyring/debian-archive/debian/archive.gpg –add-signature=6FA6E3CDD426B2F0F9BF5DADF882F707 (it is for a trusty image but the kernel is the same) The final line has to be run as root. You will need to add the above line in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50-auto-remove-packages: Acquire::trustedTypes “dsc, txt”; Crowding effects of potential moderators of adolescent violent offending: evidence from a multivariate, event-history analysis. Recent studies indicate that current violent offending during adolescence is associated with earlier violent offending and that this association is explained by shared risk factors. Another possible explanation for associations between violent offending and early offending is that early offending creates conditions that increase the occurrence of violent offending.
