(1985) Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. 133, 63-70], rat angiotensin II receptor cDNA was isolated by cross-hybridization with mouse fibroblast angiotensin II receptor cDNA. The sequence of the rat cDNA matched an adjacent, overlapping fragment of mouse fibroblast angiotensin II receptor cDNA and was further extended to cover the entire region coding for the putative leader peptide and part of the peptide receptor domain. The clone encoded a peptide of 572 amino acid residues (i.e., 93 amino acids shorter than the reported size of mouse angiotensin II receptor) and contained an open reading frame of 1156 nucleotides. When the encoded peptide was compared with known angiotensin receptors, the overall homology was 31%. The rat receptor was most closely related to the rabbit receptor, with 77% identity at the amino acid sequence level.
