This macro program calculates the volume of liquid remaining in a tank, given the tank diameter and depth, and also calculates volume for a variety of shapes.

There are three methods for this:
dipstick method
volume of the shape and volume of cylinder/ellipse
surface area of the shape
Let’s look at them:
dipstick method:
Simply measure the length of the stick and multiply by the known volume of the stick to get the amount of fluid left in the tank. This works well when the tank is not round, i.e. if you have some kind of round tube inside the tank. In that case you’d have to measure the volume of the tube and multiply it by the known volume of the dipstick stick.
This method is simple and works well for tanks that are not round or have a tube.

volume of the shape method:
Calculate the volume of a cylinder of the desired depth and diameter. If you want to calculate the volume of a sphere then simply multiply the volume of the cylinder by the cube of its radius.
Example: To calculate the volume of a cylinder with a diameter of 1 inch and a depth of 1 foot we’d use the following formula:
1 inch^2 * 1 foot = 1.6176
Now let’s say we want to calculate the volume of a cylinder with a diameter of 3 inches and a depth of 3 feet.
3 inches^2 * 3 feet = 18.4848
Now we’d use the formula again to calculate the volume of a sphere of 3 inches.
3 inches^3 * 3 inches = 9.0909
Now to calculate the volume of the ellipse we first calculate the area of the circle, multiply that by pi and then by the square of the height of the ellipse. If we want the volume of a rectangle then multiply the area of the ellipse by half its height.
There are also a variety of ways to calculate the volume of a sphere, ellipse, rectangle or a triangle, but that’s an easy way to calculate any of them.
