Collapsing a View Controller to a Detail

I am writing an app for iOS 7 where I have 1 image and 2 labels under it. Now when I touch the photo I want the whole thing to collapse into a table view, so the 2 labels get pushed underneath the screen.
Here is the code:
– (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
//Segue to the Detail of the controller
[self performSegueWithIdentifier:@”DetailViewSegue” sender:self];

//Call the method to collapse the content of the first cell which is just an image.
[self collapseContentViewController:self.tableView firstCell:YES];

The problem I have is that the content view is called before it was touched. Is there a way that I can call the method once the Image is touched?

You can’t call that method on the touchupInside event. You need to change your tap gesture recognizer to tapGestureRecognizer
or you can simply go with
[UIView animateWithDuration:0.1 animations:^{
self.view.alpha = 0;
} completion:^(BOOL finished) {
// stuff
